Turbo blower with magnetic gearbox

A single-stage high-speed turbo blower driven through a canned magnetic gearbox we developed. A standard or explosion-proof motor turns the impeller at high speed, with no shaft seal and no gas leaking to atmosphere.

Why a turbo with a magnetic gearbox

The gearbox lets an ordinary motor drive a turbo impeller at high speed. You get the efficiency of a turbo without being tied to a special high-speed motor.

  • High efficiency

A turbo impeller moves gas more efficiently than competing technologies, and the machine is sized so its design point sits on a high-efficiency island of the compressor map.

  • Much smaller footprint

Far less floor space than positive-displacement blowers and multi-stage centrifugal blowers, which helps on skids and in tight plant rooms.

  • Any motor

Standard, inverter-duty or explosion-proof. The gearbox lets the motor run at its normal speed while the impeller turns at high speed.

  • Sealed gas path

Torque goes through a sealed can, so there is no shaft seal and no leak path. The blower head carries a phenolic coating for wet or acidic gas.

Where it is used. Biogas, gas compression in general, and air. Tell us the gas and the operating point and we size the machine.

Example design point

One real configuration, to show the scale. Every machine is sized to your gas, flow and pressures, so yours will differ.

Flow
About 1,500 SCFM
Pressure
1 psig inlet to 8 psig discharge (7 psi differential)
Impeller speed
About 22,500 rpm at the design point
Motor
60 hp, inverter duty, explosion-proof (TEXP), 480 V, 3 phase, 60 Hz
Efficiency
